Classmates

60 years have gone by since we graduated from high school
so you can bet we don't look the same as we did back in the 60's...
Some of us have more pounds, or less hair, and some...
actually look better than they did at USC.
This page will remind everyone of what we looked like back then and the way we look now, as well as update us on what we are doing in this stage of our lives.

Comment: A trip to Africa early in the summer takes up the travel time this year, so I will not be coming to the reunion. It's our 2nd trip, and my husband, Zsolt, and I love Africa. We will go this time with my twin, Jeanie, and her husband, Dick. Happy memories, Everyone... |

Comment: I moved to Florida in 1993 after my youngest son graduated from USC. I was very fortunate that all 3 of my sons ended up here in Florida. After being in the Restaurant business for 18 years I changed over to the medical field. I worked for two surgeons for 5 years here in town until my oldest son bought his own practice and I've been working for him the last 7 years. I have two wonderful daughter-in-laws & will be a first time grandmother in August... which is around the same weekend as our class reunion. Can't wait to see everyone and catch up on old times. |

Comment: It has been a long time! Bill and I married after graduation from Cornell University and moved to Perth, Western Australia for a year. Great time and lovely people, tho about 25 years behind the U.S. at the time as far as modern conveniences go. Jobwise, I've been a high school Spanish teacher (thank you Betty Scalise for that inspiration!), social worker in Virginia, received my MA from U of VA and did some substitute teaching. Son Tyler graduated from U of Colorado and now resides in Denver. Daughter Laurel graduated from Northwestern U., spent 2 1/2 yr. in the Peace Corps in Uzbekistan (we did visit!) and is now at Harvard Divinity. Bill and I are on our 9th house and have moved about 15 times - from Virginia to California. I presently have the freedom to do volunteer work, primarily with my church and the local Christian Woman's Club group. Always manage to stay busy. North Carolina's climate is a great compromise for enjoying 4 seasons, with no serious winter. Enjoy the reunion and greetings to all, Lindy |

Comment: Actually I'm retiring from teaching English and coaching tennis at Upper Merion High School in King of Prussia, PA. I went to Marquette University undergraduate and began my teaching career at Washington High School. For over 30 years I have resided in a wonderful, old, springhouse in Downingtown, PA. I love reading, golfing, traveling and my golden retriever, Kibbie. I have two lovely daughters, Molly and Caitlyn who are in their 20s. All the Eastons are doing well, many of them living in Florida. I look forward to seeing everyone. |

It's been 30 years since I attended a USC reunion. Twin sister, June, is still working, and thinks that is more important than accompanying me. Huh. Retired from subbing, working for a medical dental supply company, and teaching, so I was ready! Husband Dick owns Sherer Custom Saddles and is very busy building trick saddles. We also do summer art shows. We've looked into 3 Rivers, but doubt many people along the banks of the Allegheny would want a carved belt or slobber straps. We have 2 children and 5 grands, and are lucky that they live at least within a few hours' drive. I am looking forward to visiting with classmates and even teachers(!) Wow. Jean Sherer |

Highschool "sweethearts" and married for 38 years! Bob has worked for Becton Dickinson (BD) for 36 years and has decided that this is his year for retirement. We will leave New Jersey and move to New York where we are building a log home on Lake Owasco - one of the Finger Lakes. During our time with BD we have moved around alot including a 2 year stay in Singapore. We love to travel whenever we can, including trips to Georgia and South Carolina where our daughter, Tracy, and our son, Rob live with their families. We have 4 wonderful grandchildren, Emilee (11), Erin (9), Chase (9) and Jason (7) who we love to spend time with. We're sorry we won't be at the reunion ...we'll be on a Safari in Africa... but are looking forward to hearing all the details. |

Comment:
Nine years ago I said something like "good lord, what is there to say after forty-one years." Adding nine years on to that doesn't make it any easier. The basics have changed just a bit: college (Pitt '69), three years in Africa in the Peace Corps, marriage (still intact after forty-four years), masters degree (Illinois '73), five years teaching in Chapel Hill, law school (Yale '81), two sons (34 and 37), now retired from private law practice in Washington, two delightful daughters-in-law, and three wonderful grandchildren. The accompanying picture was taken last summer in northern Thailand with two of them. As I also said nine years ago, a longer version would bore you all to tears, but, suffice it to say, I'm grateful, and I remember my years at Upper St. Clair (which for me started with Mr. Cochenaur in sixth grade), and all of you, with great fondness. A number of years ago, I saw an interview with Chuck Jones, the legendary creator of the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoons. He was nearing ninety when the interview was filmed (and he looked it) and the interviewer asked him what it felt like to be getting old. I love his answer: "Oh, I'm not old. I'm just a young person who happens to have some health issues." With best wishes to all you young people, and a special thanks to Cheryl and the others who've taken on this organizing task. To those of you able to attend the reunion in September, have a blast. I'll be thinking of you. Cheers. |
