Classmates

60 years have gone by since we graduated from high school
so you can bet we don't look the same as we did back in the 60's...
Some of us have more pounds, or less hair, and some...
actually look better than they did at USC.
This page will remind everyone of what we looked like back then and the way we look now, as well as update us on what we are doing in this stage of our lives.

Comment: So many years have gone by- really hard to sum it up in a paragraph. I am still married to Bill whom I dated in high school. That is an unusual thing to say in these times! We started out in Penna., moved to London for a few years and have spent 28 years in Ca. Bill has now been transferred to London which I will probably be traveling back and forth alot. We have 4 children, 3 boys and a girl. I was so fortunate to be able to stay at home and raise them. The greatest thing I have ever done! We now have 3 grandchildren. Two girls ages 5 and 8 and a "new" little boy that's 3 months old. If I thought having 4 kids was great these 3 little ones are "awesome". I have worked as an assistant running a busy chiropractic office for the last 13 years. A job I really love. My Dad, who was a doctor , must be turning over in his grave!!, We have had ups and downs over the years but I know that I wouldn't change a thing. I'm sorry we won't be at the reunion but I'll be thinking of all of you and wishing I was there! |

Comment: So, I was sitting in my kitchen a couple of years ago when I got a phone call from a couple of voices from out of the past. They were in some bar in Mt. Lebanon having many Chablis or something when they decided to track me down. We got together later that year ( see picture to right...Paula, Maryam and me ) Even though my mother remarried and moved us to Bethel in my junior year, I always considered Upper St. Clair my home. Spent the 70's in Miami, moved back to Pgh for a couple of years, then to Detroit ( you can have that town ), Chicago for 10 years (my kind of town), and now back in Florida but the West Coast, Tampa Bay area. My husband and I have been in the marine industry for the last ten years. One business is the manufacture and sale of recreational pontoon boats under the "Fiesta" name and the other large eco-tour boats under "Sightseer Marine". We have two successful daughters, two beautiful grandchildren, two Jack Russells who go everywhere with me including work! Currently remodeling a cottage on the Gulf of Mexico built in the year we all were born, 1947, which reinforces that old saying "You can't get there from here" but when we do it will be our slice of paradise. See you in August. Hopefully no hurricanes will interrupt the visit. |

Occupation: | retired elementary teacher |
Comment: After graduating from Indiana Univ. of Pa, I returned to Upper St. Clair to teach at Johnston and Eisenhower Elementary Schools. My husband and I have 2 sons and live in Pleasant Hills. Last June I retired, and I am currently enjoying the freedom of being allowed "out" during the day. Checking papers and doing lesson plans has been replaced by taking day trips, reading, knitting, and lots less stress. Life has been good! I hope to see lots of classmates in August. |

Tim Oltrogge passed away on April 18, 2014 from a brain tumor... Graduated from Iowa State University with a math degree in '69. Programmed computers 24 years for GE starting in '71 in Schenectady, NY which included a couple years in the early '80s in Chesapeake, VA. Following downsizing moved to Phoenix for three years, returning to Pittsburgh in '98 to help my parents and am now enjoying retirement. Married in '78 to Rachael, with a son born '79 and a daughter in '83. |

Occupation: | Art Director |

Comment: Left Pittsburgh to attend Trinity University in San Antonio, then finally graduated from East Texas State in Commerce, Texas. Lived and worked in Dallas at the Dallas Times Herald for a little over a year after graduation and then hit the road to find a different place to live. Traveled the country in a VW bus for about 7 months and ended up in Denver in 1971 and been here ever since. Currently I'm a freelance Art Director working with the ad agency I was with for 13 years, and other agencies in town. I have been doing woodcarving for the past 26 years as a hobby and love it. Decorative birds, fish and the occasional animals, and show and sell my work when I can. It keeps me sane, as do my 2 English Springer Spaniels, Chester and Dewey, who will turn 2 in May. All in all, life is good and I'm looking forward to the reunion this August. |

Comment: After graduating from Purdue I worked in Dallas, Indiana, and San Diego before I finally landed in south eastern PA in 1990. A lot of towns, jobs, and kids equals a lot of satisfaction and fun. This is where I met Jean and we successfully blended two families into one and were married in 1994. We have put 4 kids through college and one more just finishing his Freshmen year. What a raise I'll get in 3 more years! I have 4 grand kids spread over the country and I can't wait until some live close by. Life has smoothed out finally and I actually have time to play more golf now. I'll never be where I was in High School but I still love the game. I'm looking forward for the reunion in August and I'll see you there. |

Comment: I attended Penn State. I married Harry in 1969. We've been married for 37 years and have lived in Sarasota, FL since 1973. We have 2 daughters, 1 son-in-law and 1 grandson - so far. Harry owns a printing business here. Although I've worked in the business, I mostly stayed home to raise our children. In addition to grandmothering, I spend my time serving on community boards and playing a little tennis. I still have family in Pittsburgh, so I love to get back from time to time. I'm not yet sure I can attend our reunion. |

Comment: I moved to New York in '75 and my life began. I was a legal secretary and then became a paralegal. I met my husband, Sy Presten, in '84. We were married by one of my former bosses, Judith Kaye, who became Chief Judge of New York State. Sy is a self-employed life-long publicist, and in '88 I joined him in the business. We've been living and working together (24/7!) since then. We have a son and two beautiful grandchildren who we dote on. We live in the now very trendy section of New York - Chelsea - in a loft - and couldn't imagine living anywhere else. Can't believe I haven't been back to Pittsburgh in over 20 years, but I am looking forward to seeing everyone. Cheryl, you did a great job putting together the website. |

Occupation: | General Dentist |
Comment: Cheryl-Thanks for the pictures of the prom, Bowling City & graduation. I was unable to attend these events & the pictures were the only ones that I've seen. I graduated from Pitt Dental School in 1974 & completed a dental internship in Ft Myers, FL in 1975. I have been in private practice of general dentistry for 31 years. I've now had another traumatic event in my life named Hurricane Charley (8/13/04). The eye went over my house & dental office with 186 MPH winds. Every other downtown business has been bulldozed. Punta Gorda was paradise for 29 yrs, now it's "paradise lost." I have been married to my Canadian princess Maggie for 35 yrs & have 3 sons. Rick is in Podiatry school. John was just invited into Phi Beta Kappa & Bob is a freshman. I sincerely regret that I will be unable to attend this event since still in recovery. I welcome all classmates visiting Florida to stop by & reminisce. Herb Amick was here. |

Children: | 4 |
Occupation: | art teacher |
Comment: When I graduated from IUP in 1969, Upper St Clair had four art teacher openings. I've been at Streams ever since with stints at Johnston, Baker, Boyce, and Eisenhower. Teaching here has been a thrill, and I have a few years years to go to make up for those four maternity leaves. I married Joe Rishel, A Duquesne University History professor, in 1977. Our children range in age from 27 to 23: Jonathan, Emily, Marjorie, and Elizabeth. The younger two are now searching for teaching jobs in the arts: Marjorie with certificaion in Elementary and Art and a studio arts degree, and Elizabeth in Music. I'm looking forward to PNC Night and a chance to roll back a "few" years. |
