Classmates

60 years have gone by since we graduated from high school
so you can bet we don't look the same as we did back in the 60's...
Some of us have more pounds, or less hair, and some...
actually look better than they did at USC.
This page will remind everyone of what we looked like back then and the way we look now, as well as update us on what we are doing in this stage of our lives.

2015 Entry... Sorry I won't be able to attend our 50th reunion but I will be traveling to Floridia to visit with my daughter, son-in-law and and 2 of my grandkids (2 years and 5 years old). After college (1 year IUP, 1 year Point Park) - the Army (3 years in far east '68,'69,'70) - college again (finally a BA from IUP in '73), I wound up living just outside of Richmond, VA for the last 41 years. I worked mainly in sales of building materials for the residential and commercial real estate markets, I covered most of the east coast. In 2011 I retired and have been doing some consulting work on the side. With 2 marriages (35 years total) resulting in 3 fantastic kids (2 sons and a daughter) and 4 grandchildren, I am now single again. I am still a die hard Steeler and Pirate fan (World Series here we come) and have imparted this wisdom to both of my sons. Unfortunately my son-in-law is a Minnesotta fan (but I still love him). If you are ever traveling thru Richmond please call and we'll get together. |

Comment: So, let's see. What did I do for the last 41 years? Good grief. how could it be 41 years? I went to Pitt, got married, graduated in three years and began a temporary job with the State as a caseworker. I helped found a coop in Oakland, fought against oppression and war and for a better world. We relocated to New Jersey when my husband was accepted to Princeton for graduate work, transferred to Bucks County still with the state, and became a social worker doing drug counseling, emergency intervention and early childhood health care among other things. We lived communally, farmed organically and were active politically. I eventually divorced the first husband, remarried a talented artist/woodworker, had a daughter who has been a challenge and a joy, and after 30 years, retired from my temporary job. Since then, I have been working with my husband in his woodworking, building, stained glass, pottery, business, which consists of him and me. We built two houses together and a lot of other things, rehabbed a house in Phila, got our daughter through high school and now, through college with a lot of ups and downs. We live on 9.5 acres in the woods in one of the houses that we built and watch the deer, racoons, foxes and other critters from our beautiful deck. I continue to work with enthusiasm and optimism for causes that I hope will change the world and allow our children and grandchildren to live in peace and security. What a long, strange trip it's been! |

2015 Entry: I am sorry to miss the reunion this year. Dave and I had a great time at the 40th. Dave (Mt. Lebanon, '59) passed away just after we moved to Sun City Center, Fl from Ohio 5 years ago - it even sounds like you would want to retire here, doesn't it? My mother, now 91, lives close by and my sister Pamela (class of '69) is about 20 minutes away. I volunteer with our Emergency Squad as a dispatcher 2 days a week, and I would not trade that for the world. I considered driving north for the big weekend, but without Dave, getting around Pittsburgh just won't be that easy in the wheelchair. I know you will all have another great time this year, and I will think about you all weekend. Linda |

Comment: My life has been a wild and crazy magic carpet ride. I've served a couple of tours in the Air Force (active during Viet Nam, reserve during Desert Storm as a flight medic), and have enjoyed several careers - education and industrial health and safety, while serving part time as a firefighter/EMT for my county. We "ran away from home" (Atens, GA) a few years ago to be closer to the beach, but atleast one set of kids has since tracked us down and moved here as well. I'm currently at Bryan County High School (West of Savannah, GA) working with severely handicapped high school students; I'm also involved in coaching 3 sports and serve as Sports Medicine director. I'm blessed to be married to my best friend and lover for 34 years, and to have been lucky enough to have served on the '96 Olympic medical staff (soccer) and to have a state championship football ring. My favorite things include surf, sun, sand, sails, the ocean, and being one half of Grammy and Poppy to two very active and wonderful boys. I won't be able to make the reunion since I'm up to my eyeballs in work, but send my fondest regards to everyone. |

Comment: My life is still full of work. I was CEO of my firm for about 5 years until late "04 - then I turned it over to someone else and focused on Board of Directors Consulting. Our daughter is 29 now and lives nearby and my wife Carol and I built our dream home and are trying to travel more and take vacations. I am starting to think about career #3 in another year or two to change pace and priorities and create more free time. We have definitely reached the age where our friends and family are more important than all of the other hard work. |

Comment: Maybe it was Cheryl Hawkins who contacted me awhile ago to participate in this internet directory. At the time, I didn't see much point because I had just returned from a summer AFS program, moved into a new house, and spent just senior year at Upper St. Clair (my parents did continue to live in Deerfield - on Quail Hill Drive - for thirty-five years). Gwen Gauthier was a friend, so that was sad news. Jim is in energy, so we have moved a lot. We lived near Zurich for two years, back to Murrysville, then to Boston (11 years), to Potomac, MD (eight years), Tampa and now Kettering, OH. While we were in Boston, and our youngest son was in kindergarten, I went back to get an M.Ed.; then taught at Fay School in Southborough, MA for three years. When we moved to the D.C. area, I started over, getting to know the NAIS schools and eventually got a job at the one I wanted, Norwood. Christopher, who is on he verge of becoming engaged, lives on Russian Hill in San Francisco and works for an educational software company. He is thirty. Jonathan is working for Corporate Executive Board on H Street in DC. He is 24. For those who warned me against going to Allegheny College (I did meet Jim there), I transferred sophomore year to Carnegie Mellon, which I loved. Best wishes - so many of you look familiar and I thought I blocked that whole year. |

Comment: I have a solo law practice in Bonita Springs, Florida - between Naples and Ft. Myers. I was transferred from Pittsburgh to Florida in the mid 80's by Westinghouse Electric Corporation and was assigned to Westinghouse Communities, Inc. (WCI). WCI has since sold to private investors and has gone on to become a huge land development company with projects through out the U.S. I left WCI in the mid-90's and am very happy with my small practice. Since my wife passed away in 2004, I've unfortunately become a work-a-holic and too "hermit-like" for my own good. I'm looking forward to getting away to Pittsburgh and seeing you all in August. |

I moved to Cleveland my sophomore year at USC and attended Lutheran West in Rocky River, Ohio. I fondly remember SO many of you when I look through all the pictures on the website! I married my college sweetheart, Tom after graduating from Valparaiso University in Indiana in 1969. We celebrated 45 years of marriage last August and are thrilled to say we still love one another dearly. Teaching has been one of my passions and I thoroughly enjoyed it's challenges and rewards through the years. Teaching third grade, Kindergarten, and being an Adminstrator of a Nursery School prepared me for our three amazing and energetic grandchildren. Our son, Brian lives near us in Ohio and Brightin (10), Keegan (8) and Camden (5) have been the loves of our lives. We have recenly relocated to Melbourne, Florida as my husband is taking over a construction business here. We are so looking forward to the time we can golf to our hearts' content. It will be wonderful to see many of you after "all these years" at our 50th. Reunion. Thank you, Cheryl and everyone for making this happen! |

Comment: I've served WPA churches in Meadville, Bradford, Butler, Connellsville, Charleroi and Penn Hills. My 19 years of Air Force Reserve duty has taken me across the USA as well as to Panama, Peru, Spain, Kuwait amd Iraq. The attached picture was taken in front of our Chapel in Kuwait in Nov 05. My wife Beth teaches school in Penn Hills. Our son, Rich, is a financial planner in Columbus, OH. He's married and has 1 child. Our daughter, Rochelle, is married and living in Fayetteville NC where she serves as a air traffic controller. |

Currently on work release from his most recent incarceration. He has been in and out of the federal and state systems since his training at USC. His parole officer has tentatively approved his August trip to USC for the Reunion. He and "Mama" Patricia look forward to visiting with his classmates. |
