Stephanie Obenchain Woll died peacefully at home surrounded by her family in the late afternoon Stephanie Obenchain Woll died peacefully at home surrounded by her family in the late afternoon on July 21, 2017 in Annapolis, Maryland at the age of 70 after a courageous and graceful fight against breast cancer. Stephanie is survived by her three adult children, their spouses, and her beloved grandchildren – Amy and Mark Gonzalez of Edgewater, Maryland, parents to Reid (8) and Cora (4); Chris and Claire Woll of Houston, Texas, parents to Cameron (5) and Charlotte (3); and Sarah and Travis Shrader of Austin, Texas, parents to Tate (2). She is also survived by two brothers, Richard Obenchain and Bill (and Barbara) Obenchain of Arizona. She is preceded in death by her husband Eric Edwin Woll; her parents, Richard and Lorraine Obenchain; and by her youngest brother Jim Obenchain. Stephanie was born on July 10, 1947 in Logansport, Indiana, the third of four children, and only daughter, to Richard and Lorraine. She attended Purdue University (’69), majoring in foreign languages with a special interest in couture and fashion design. She married Eric, her high school sweetheart, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1969. They were married for more than 42 years, residing in Monmouth Beach, New Jersey (5 years); Houston, Texas (25 years); and ultimately retiring together in their beloved Annapolis, Maryland (16 years). Together, they had three children, Amy, Chris and Sarah and five consequent grandchildren, Reid, (8) Cameron (5), Cora (4), Charlotte (3) and Tate (2), who remained the center of her world until the end. During their time in Houston, Stephanie was active as a parent volunteer with her children’s various school activities and involvements, particularly with swimming and diving, soccer and dance. Later, in Annapolis she and Eric were devoted sponsors to more than fifteen Naval Academy Midshipmen. Concurrently, she dedicated her time to both St. Anne’s Episcopal Church helping to maintain the vestments and alter cloths, and to the Visitor’s Center in Annapolis, sharing her knowledge about a city she loved. Stephanie was a beloved wife and mother and a talented, selfless and resilient woman who fought bravely without complaint and will be forever missed. Following the service at St. Anne’s Cemetery the Woll family invites guests to attend a reception celebrating her life at one of her favorite Annapolitan venues, The Officer’s Club at the U.S. Naval Academy. A private Cremation was held. A memorial service will be held at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Church Circle Annapolis, Maryland 21401 on Friday July 28, 2017 at 10 AM.
