Occupation: Accountant
Marital Status: Married
No. of Children: 2
From Karen: After high school, I earned my college degree in Accounting, which was the career I had chosen for my 9th grade Civics paper! After working in Public Accounting for a couple years then moving onto banking, I got married and dropped out of the workforce for 20 years to raise two lovely daughters. Once our daughters went off to college I went back to work in banking and then to my current position in Medicine Research Administration at the University of Pittsburgh. Both our daughters were married in the year 2000 and now live in northern Virginia. We visit back and forth often and my husband and I are growing into our new roles as Grandma and Grandpa. Our first granddaughter recently celebrated her first birthday and now we are anxiously anticipating the birth of her little brother in the middle of August. I'm sorry to miss the reunion but send my greetings to all.

Marital Status: Married
No. of Children: 4
From Linda: My high school years were not my best. So why do I feel the need to write to you? Having four children…our baby is now 28.. and living through their high school years makes me write you. The world is round. I now live in Austin, Texas with my husband (of 38 years). We bought a historic house two blocks from where I should have been born. In '47 the hospitals were full and my mother was sent to Ohio, to her mother, for me to be born. In March of this year I spent ten days moving my parents (now 86 and 89 respectively) into Friendship Village, which is a retirement community in Upper St. Clair. All of us will face that in 20-30 years. Where else have I lived? Twelve years in California, PA, where Bill (my husband) was a professor. A year off when we lived in Germany, while Bill did a Post Doc. I ran a 13-acre farm while Bill taught at the college. I raised chickens, goats, and ponies for the kids and an acre in vegetable garden. From there…on to the Mojave Desert (Navel Weapons Center), San Diego, CA (General Dynamics), Ann Arbor, MI (Univ. of MI), Atlanta, GA (Georgia Tech) then in '91 to Austin. I say in the 80's we were on the Star War Trail, as Bill was doing defense research. Back to the round part. My packers arrived for the move to Austin the day Desert Storm hit. So what have I done with my life. I am an artist. I do clay sculpture, design and make leaded glass windows, and have written a number of short stories the New Yorker needs. After 20 years keeping houses and kids I got a day job. I now work at the University of Texas in the Physics Department. Life has been good to me. The picture is of Bill and I with our four children. With kind regards Linda (Walker) Hallidy

Occupation: Entrepreneur/Homemaker
Marital Status: Married
No. of Children: 3
From Joe and Shirley (Haygood): We are now beginning the 3rd or 4th stage of our life. Joe and I married young and this fall we celebrate our 40th anniversary. Joe worked for 84 Lumber for 20 years as I raised 3 very "busy" children. We were transferred around the country and we loved the adventure. Then Joe started his own business, Hardy Enterprises, and our life changed again. Now Joe was home more...I had time to play golf and tennis and our children were almost out the door. Now we are enjoying retirement, volunteering, our children, 3 delightful grandchildren, traveling and golf. We have been very fortunate indeed, and who knows, maybe there will be time for another career. Thanks for arranging all of this Cheryl - you're the best! See you soon! (no senior photo available for Joe Hardy)

Occupation: Attorney
Marital Status: Married
No. of Children: 3
From Mark: After 33 years in Lake Forest,IL, the kids were gone, the dog died and Sarah and I decided to sell the house and move back into the city. On top of that, after 34 years in the private practice of law, the last 16+ of which have been with Winston & Strawn LLP, I accepted an offer to join one of my clients, Priva Technologies,Inc., as EVP and General Counsel. Priva is in the process of moving its corporate headquarters from Virginia to Chicago and the opportunity was too tempting to pass up. Finally, Sarah and I are looking forward to developing a piece of property we acquired in Santa Barbara several years ago as a second home and refuge from the midwest Winter. Other than that not much is going on!

From Sheryl: I worked 30+ years for a refractories company then was "down-sized." I've worked for Kraft Fluid Systems almost 10 years in an Administrative Assistant capacity, which is basically the Company secretary. Occupation: Psychiatric Nurse
Marital Status: Married
No. of Children: 2
From Linda: I graduated with a nursing degree in 1969 from U. of Michigan. I married Dick Hilderbrant, who was in the army and on his way to Vietnam at the time. I spent a year at St. Clair Hospital as a med-surg nurse. When Dick returned he resumed his job as a pilot for United, and we moved to New York State. We were there until 1981, then moved to Chicago. I was lucky to be able to stay at home with our sons, now 33 and 28. I kept busy helping with home rehab projects and building our own home in 1985. In 1991 I started my own horticulture business. In 1995 I returned to part time nursing as a health educator. I went to work in 2003 as a psychiatric nurse at a community mental health center, where I am the manager of Medical Services. My husband and I became Christians after his return from the war, and our faith continues to be our Rock. Our sons are both married to wonderful girls. Eric is a police sergeant and has a boy and girl, twins that are 6 months old. Ryan works in the RV industry and is also starting his own cabinet making business. He has a son and a daughter, 4 and 2. My husband started a home repair business after 37 years with United. I love painting, drawing, gardening, and playing with my grandkids. Looking forward to the reunion!

Occupation: lawyer
Marital Status: Married
No. of Children: 3
From Jim: I've been a public defender in Virginia for the last 15 years. It's a tough job, but I enjoy working for clients who often have no one else on their side. In my "spare time" I fight for criminal justice reform. Virginia is a state much in need of improvements, so there's plenty to do. I also teach criminal advocacy part-time at U.Va. Law School. I finished college in 1969, married, and went to teach high school in rural West Virginia for two years. I became a certified welder by taking night classes at the high school where I taught. After two years of welding full time, I ended up at U.Va. Law School, graduating in 1976. A judicial clerkship and private practice followed, until I became a public defender in 1991. My first marriage ended in divorce after 25 years. We had three great boys, twins now age 28, and the youngest, now 23. I have been happily remarried for seven years. More to tell about me, and more to hear about you. 41 years is a long time. Look forward to seeing everyone soon.
